Eight Presidential Unit Citations for extraordinary heroism have been awarded to the 18th Fighter Group and/or 18th Fighter Wing throughout it's remarkable history. Four were awarded by the United States, and four by the appreciative countries whom our forces were protecting from their invading enemies.

The pictured citation was especially prepared and presented to the veterans of No. 2 Squadron, South African Air Force by appreciative 18th Fighter Wing's USAF visitors to Cape Town, RSA in September 1997.
