18th  FWA  WEBSITE IS PROGRESSING –  MEMBERS ASKED TO PROVIDE HEROES PHOTOS, PERSONAL NOTES  ========================================= Our 18th Fighter Wing Association website has grown to include brief histories of the Wing and its various squadrons, including South African; we have an extensive “At Rest” Honor Roll section which honors 18th heroes who were Killed in Action during World War II, the Korean War and which, some day, will include the names of 18th members killed in Vietnam and future wars.  We have listed many who gave their lives in Cold War aircraft accidents, and we honor the memory of heroic 18th Fighter Wing veterans who were taken from us during peacetime.   We have included sections where our most recent Status Report newsletters may be read and downloaded, and another section is being set aside for future and past Reunion information.  18FWA membership criteria and application questionnaire forms will be available for information and for downloading by 18th veterans wishing to join our organization.  Prospects for future addition of a wide range of  information abound and boggle our minds. Perusing the ‘At Rest’ area of our website, viewers will find many small ‘thumbnail’ photos next to certain individual’s name listings.  By ‘clicking’ on those small photos, they will be ‘linked’ to larger photos and additional information about that person and,  if he has been the subject of an ‘Unsung Heroes..’ or other text, the viewer can then be linked by a ‘click’ to that article. With the able direction and assistance of our 18th FWA Webmaster, Jim Heath, we hope to add photos and perhaps a short biography to the listing of as many 18th Honor Roll individuals as we are able. This is where we really need your help.    [ Continued on Page 2]

Text Box: A MODERN SCHOOL PRAYER
                              ======================================================================
Now I sit me down at school,
Where praying is against the rule.
For this great nation under God,
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
                              Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange, or green,
                              That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take. Amen !
